Our Property

Welcome to our Victorian home that we call the Crystal Springs Inn.  Built in 1890, this home was a stopping point for weary travelers heading to Sacramento and San Francisco.  130 years later the home still carries the same charm and entertains travelers from all over the world. These days they come to the Crystal Springs Inn to rest, relax and use it as a home base for their outdoor activities.

We're conveniently located an hour from both Sacramento International Airport (SMF) and Reno-Tahoe International Airport (RNO), we can make arrangements for airport transportation with advance notice - just ask! If the train is more your speed, Amtrak's California Zephyr line has a stop in our closest town Colfax, CA. And if you're driving, we have our very own I-80 exit "Crystal Springs Exit 148-A".

Our summers are ideal, with temperatures averaging 80 degrees in June, with August peaking at 94 degrees. Our nights are typically cool and most will require a sweater even during summer months. Our winters bring colder temperatures (lows of 20, averaging 50 between the winter months), and most years we do get snow that accumulates. The Sierra is known for it's late winters, so we typically don't open the pool for swimming until July.

The town of Colfax is 15 minutes West of us and has restaurants, shopping and an Amtrak train depot. A bit further West brings you to the town of Auburn, where you'll find fantastic options for shopping, entertainment, restaurants and activities - with notable Old Town and Downtown areas. Sacramento is a bit further but will provide days of sight-seeing, government tours and historical exploration.

You can visit Truckee (40 minutes) to taste the local brews and explore the picturesque streets - shopping and restaurants galore. Just a bit further will bring you into Lake Tahoe to glimpse some of the most beautiful, clear (and cold!) water you can find. Interstate 80 will take you into Reno, Nevada and beyond.

Grass Valley and Nevada City are a picturesque 35 minute drive down Highway 174, and provide great day trip opportunities to explore these quaint and historical gold-mine era communities.

Come and stay with us any time of year and enjoy the relaxing vibe and comfortable rooms.
